PINEWOOD RV PARK

Marilyn Warren and her dog Chika stand in the doorway of her motorhome at Pinewood Park in Bremerton, Wash. on Friday, May 17, 2024.
Warren chose not to sign the new lease at Pinewood Park, after their community became the latest purchase of Hurst & Son LLC, a real estate investment company, which raised her rent to $700 – almost half of her social security payout a month. She also has no plan to live anywhere else. She can’t make one.
“I can't go anywhere. There's nowhere to go,” she said. “It's really scary. It's making me sick. I mean, every morning I wake up crying and I start thinking about it: ‘Where am I going to go?’ and I can't come up with anything.”
