The One With a Multitude of Oars

I had the opportunity last week to spend a couple of hours with a newly formed high school rowing team.

One of my favorite things about this job is getting to see and photograph things I have never witnessed before-the sport of rowing being one of them.

I had so much fun riding around in a little boat with one of the coaches as his team rowed through Eagle Harbor and Seattle’s skyline shimmered in the sunlight on the horizon, that I hardly noticed the pouring rain and hail that pelted my face and soaked my cameras.

Okay I did notice, as I attempted to wipe the water droplets off of my lenses with my scarf, but the adverse weather conditions just made the whole thing even more fun and gave me a nice variety of light for my photos.

As usual I shot way too much, darn this heavy trigger finger of mine, but since I just got the shutter replaced in one of my cameras I felt it was necessary to really put it to the test.

(And if my managing editor reads this, I must add that it is highly unlikely that my heavy trigger finger was the reason that the shutter blew on that camera!) ;)

Here are a few I liked from my afternoon on the water:
