My job is all about being at the right place at the right time.
Actually life in general is really all about being in the right place at the right time- but I’m not going to get all deep and philosophical on you. I’m just going to state that fact and move along.
Anyway….
I chalk most of those “right place, right time” photo moments up to the experience of observing people every day and just having that gut feeling or knowledge of where to be when photographing certain situations.
And in other cases it’s just luck/kismet/fate/coincidence that sticks you in that spot (with your camera in hand of course) at that moment.
Such was the case on Friday when I went to Silverdale Waterfront Park to grab a couple photos of teens practicing for this weekend’s CK Regatta. I was early to the event (as usual) and was just hanging out on the dock leaning against a piling to stay out of the wind, when I saw one of the sailing coaches and went to ask him a question. As I was walking back to the piling I was using as a wind break I saw the scene below unfolding at the other end of the dock:
JP Nunez and Lillie Bolton share a kiss after Nunez proposed to her while they were walking along the Silverdale Waterfront Dock with friends on Friday. Bolton said yes.

Good thing I had left my position behind the piling to talk to the coach or I would have missed the whole thing.
Heck yeah you should have been Kelly! It was one of those adventures we would have happened upon while in Idaho for a story….sigh remember how much fun we had on those? And all the times we threatened to not go back to the office because we were having so much fun on assignment? Too bad we are both so “square”… we maybe should have played hooky JUST ONCE!
Thanks Rodney! I was quite happy that I “happened” to be there and was paying attention – I shudder to think of all the things I may have missed as my mind had been reeling about this and that etc. while I wait for an assignment to “happen”!
I might be on a photo high from that wild art for a few weeks or so!
So cute Meegan! I should have been there with you!
Holy Good Fortune, Batman!
Meegan, this series is tremendous and the folks in the background add just oddles to the whole scene. Thanks for paying attention to the cosmos and your surroundings all at the same time. And for sharing. Definitely for sharing.
