BLOG: 3′s

I’ve been a bit intrigued by Triptychs (for those who don’t know a Triptych is a piece of art in three parts) after seeing a few while trying to find ideas for my photo department’s  Kitsap Frames Photo Challenge blog.

There’s more to it though, frankly I like things in 3′s (now now keep your minds out of the gutter people).

I can’t really describe it (yet here i go trying to do so) but 3′s just feel right. They are unassuming, a little odd (hardy har har) and really just comforting.

For example, when I’m editing a photo assignment and i have it narrowed down to two photos and one has four people in it and the other just three people- I’ll end up picking the 3 almost 99.9% of the time.

As for 4′s, do not get me started on how uncomfortable things in 4′s make me.

    Hey thanks Drew!
Yes since blogging is now part of my “Multimedia Journalist” job description at my new gig I figured I should blog for real life also. I too am a total photo blog stalker, I just love to be inspired by all the work out there. Yours is in my “Utah Photog Blog” bookmarks folder so keep those inspiring photos coming pal! :)
WA is lovely, I really like the paper I work for-not that I didn’t like the Herald Journal or anything (it was a mostly delightful 5 years) it’s just this is a good place to be and a step up.

Meegan! I never had the pleasure of working with you (I worked at the Standard-Examiner) but I was curious to see how WA was treating you. I’m glad you’ve jumped on the blog wagon it’s fun keeping up with other photogs through the blogsphere. Anyways great posts and amazing images. Love the Triptychs too. If you haven’t already Scott Strazzante does a ton of amazing Diptychs. Might want to check out his blog sometime. Anyways feel free to keep in touch and share blog stories. :) -Drew
