Bio

Meegan M. Reid grew up in Traverse City, Michigan where as a kid she stalked birds and bunnies that visited her home with her camera in hand.

She graduated from Central Michigan University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Photojournalism. During (and after) those college years she held internships at The Grand Rapids Press, The Midland Daily News and three internships at the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

Back in Traverse City, after the internships and graduation, she became the primary Northern Michigan freelancer for The Detroit News, The Detroit Free Press, The Ann Arbor News, The Traverse City Record-Eagle, The Associated Press, The Grand Rapids Press and The Midland Daily News. She then took a gig as a staff photographer at the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

Meegan left Michigan and traveled West to become a staff photographer at The Herald Journal in Logan, Utah, where she strived to capture the community in dynamic “out of the box” story-telling photographs from 2004-2009. She loved the mountains of the West but quietly missed the waters of Michigan.

Meegan is currently a staff photographer at The Kitsap Sun in Bremerton, Washington, where she gets to marvel at both the mountains AND the Pacific Ocean.

(Meegan has won numerous awards for her work but feels that listing them here is a bit too arrogant for her personality and if you feel you really need to see them, they are listed on her resume.)
